National Museum of Korean Literature – Museum in a Forest
The National Museum of Korean Literature is a new museum to house manuscripts, books and documents throughout the history of Korea. Conceived as a “Museum in a Forest” the site plan merges the museum with Gijachon Park and Bukhansan National Park. The project’s interior planning placed the book archive at the center of the project as a multi-story structure that contains the literature archive. Community based public flexible space, library, café, and museum shop surround the archive, while galleries, education and administration are located on the lower level. The building will utilize solar panels, rainwater collection, In-Vert self-adjusting solar glazing, on-site sewage treatment, and geo-thermal heat exchange for radiant heating and cooling for a near net-zero energy efficient building.
