Studio Art Hall - Pomona College

Claremont, California

With efficient and cost effective interventions, the Pomona College Studio Art Hall project is a means to re-invigorate and rejuvenate the Arts campus. Addressing the functional needs of the department is only half of the battle—the project also hopes to connect students to the entire consortium of Claremont Colleges, as well as the surrounding City of Claremont. The new Art Hall, a “village” for art education, houses drawing, photography, painting, sculpture, and digital arts studios as a collection of volumes under a large canopy roof. The project is the result of a thorough analysis of the existing Studio Art Building, the overall campus master plan, student surveys, and programming charettes with faculty and board members.
